A New Project!

Hi everybody!

Today I want to tell you about a new music project I'm working on! It is going to be a sort of concept album with its own story, at the moment I'm still writing it, but I'm at a good point, I've found the singers I need and I'm writing the music!
So, that's all I wanted to tell you for now, in the meantime listen to what will be the opening of this work, a sort of demo if you like ;)

Queen Forever

Hi everyone!

I want to spend some words about the upcoming Queen's album "Queen Forever", announced for the first time by Roger Taylor in December 2013.
Originally it seemed like Queen should have been publishing some completely new material, and actually, in the record we'll find two new songs with Freddie and an alternative version of Love Kills, written with Giorgio Moroder. Well, actually, since the hype created last year, I was hoping in something more, because, aside from these three songs, the others are all Queen's hits. Let's say that I love Queen, I've been listening to them since I was a child, but in this case, I'm getting a bit disappointed.

Tell me what do you think about all this thing, I would like to know your opinion too.

Queen Forever is going to be released on November 10th 2014 in America and in Europe and on November 11th 2014 in Italy

My opinion about the Line6 POD HD500X

Hi guys!

As some of you may remember, I posted some time ago a post in which I talked about my first impressions on the discover of the Line6 POD HD500X. After that, I managed to buy one of those and now I want to tell you what I think about it after having used it for some time.

First of all, let's say that is a very resistant piece of gear built very well. Now, for what concerns the quality of the software, the most of you won't be using the presets, they're not such a great thing, so, the first thing you'll be doing will be creating your own sound. To do that, Line6 created a software with which you can set everything using your Mac/PC, which is a very nice thing, the program is simple to use and works well.
Of course, you can set your sound even using the POD itself, you'll be finding seven physical knobs, one for every EQ aspect (Drive, Bass, Mid, Treble, Precence, Volume, Master). On the high left side you'll find the controls for the internal software (EQ, effects, amps etc.), which in my opinion, are quite uncomfortable, but just because I've got used to the pc software.
As you can see, there are two rows of buttons on the lower half of the POD, they allow you to control your tones while playing, the two buttons on the left, let you choose the sets of sounds, while the other two on the right are the LOOPER (higher), which let you record a riff in order to let it sound later as a loop, and the TAP tempo, which if you press it for nearly two seconds, takes to the Tuner.
The central lower buttons are used to choose the single sounds/distortions of every set, while the higher ones are the controls for the effects, so having a distortion selected, you can turn on or off any effect associated to it (ex. Delay, Flanger, Booster etc.).
On the right side there's the expression pedal, to control the intensity of every effect, wah included.
Now, let's talk about the back of the POD, in order to see the connections that it offers.

Starting from the left, we have the PEDAL 2, which allows you to connect other pedals, like analogic ones, or another expression pedal, and so on. Proceeding, there's the GUITAR IN, the input for your guitar of course; the CD/MP3 input; two Unblanced Outputs (Jack connections); two Balanced Outputs (Cannon connections); a Phones input; an AUX IN; the MIC input, with a level control, the FX RETURN and the FX SEND, the VARIAX, which is a special connection made to work with oter Line6 Variax instruments; the S/PDIF out; the MIDI connections; the USB, to make the POD communicate with the Mac/PC; a LINE6 Link, to use only with Line6 stuff; and the Power input, I have to say that the POD can be turned on/off, only using the power cable, so, no switches.

I've introduced you to the POD HD500X as it actually is, now, let's talk about my experience with it.
I actually love it, as I've written before, excluding the presets, once I've set my own sounds, I've had my best experience with a digital pedal I could have at this price, so please don't tell me that other expensive effects are better, because actually I can't buy those. I own this and I'm very satisfied, I usually connect it to the amp, which in my case at home, is a VOX VT100, through the SEND/RETURN in/out, I use the same method when I use other bigger amplifiers to and it sounds just great to me.
I bought the 500X after having used for some years the POD 2.0, so it can be said that I'm quite affictionated to Line6, and I'm glad to be, but, don't just listen to me, I'm not saying that you have to buy it, but try it if you can, if a friend of yours owns one, ask him to let you edit a sound, play a bit with it and in my opinion, you won't be disappointed.

Stay tuned and follow the blog if you have liked this article! As soon as I can, I'll be posting some recordings with it, so that you can hear it!

Bye!

In memory of Paco de Lucia

Hi everyone.

As many of you know, three days ago we've lost one on the greatest guitar masters in the world, I'm talking about Paco de Lucia. I'm not going to write a biography of this great artist, he has already told us enough about himself through his wonderful music. In this post I just want to say goodbye to a great man and a great musician which inspired everyone of us in some way.

Murder On The Orient Express

Hello everyone!

Today I want to share with you a song I've written, which is actually one of my best works so far, at least in my opinion, it's titled Murder On The Orient Express, I've chosen this title because of "oriental" sound of the song.

The scale I've used it's an E phrygian dominant, the fifth mode of the Harmonic Minor Scale. I love the way this scale sounds, it's versatile and hypnotic.

Check it and tell me what do you think about it!

The gear for this song was:
"Jackson RR24" Guitar
"Ernie Ball Slinky Cobalt 0.11-0.48"
"Line6 Spider IV 30" Amplifier
"Line6 POD 2.0" Multi-effect processor for guitar
"Shure SM57" Microphone
"Steinberg CI 1" USB Audio Interface

The other instruments have been written using Logic pro 9

Collecchio Film Festival 2013

Hey!

I want to show you a little work I made last summer with my friend Fabio "Zedd" Cavallo, a local director.

Together we made the opening video for the Collecchio Film Festival 2013, he created the animation and I took care of the audio part.

In my opinion it's a nice thing, I like that little alien!

September Sun

Hi everyone!

Today I would like you to listen one of my first songs I've written after my band broke up, it's titled September Sun.

This song means quite much to me, since I wrote it in a very bad period of my life, it took quite a long time to be completed, since I wanted it to be the most emotional and authentic as it could be.

To record it I've used:
"Jackson RR24" Guitar
"Vox VT-100" Amplifier
"Line6 POD 2.0" Multi-effect processor for guitar
"Steinberg CI 1"USB Audio Interface

Listen to it if you have some time and let me know what do you think about it and maybe which emotions does it inspire to you.

First impressions about the discover of the Line6 POD HD500X!

Hey!

Today I was looking for a new piece of gear, and since I really like Line6 products, I've decided to go that way, so looking at Line6's site (http://line6.com/) I've found this:

The Line6 POD HD500x, I already have the POD 2.0, which is very good and I still use it to reach a very good tone, but now it's a bit old and I need to evolve my gear in relation to my needs. Reading the description of the HD500x I've realized that it would be the perfect choice for me, it has an enormous variety of sounds and effects in it, so it can be suitable for a blues guitar player and for example a player more oriented to a metal style.

This is a digital pedalboard and a processor for guitar, so it has all the base functions of the POD series: you can edit your sound in may ways and assign it to a specific channel, the software seems to be very cool and gives you the possibility to edit your sound using a PC or a Mac, instead of doing it directly from the POD, this makes things pretty easier. As you can see from the pic, there is an expression pedal already built in, but if you wish, you can connect another one.
One particular thing that I really appreciate is the Send/Return connection, this means you can connect other pedals if you wish to personalize your sound in every shade.

I have to admit, Line6 wins easily on me, since I've already got the Line6 Spider IV 30 Amplifier and the POD 2.0, which never got me disappointed. So I'll be saving money to buy this little thing, and I'll certainly write a better and more detailed post about it! You can watch this meanwhile, it's the official ad of the POD HD500x, from the Line6 website, enjoy it! It really worked on me!

Musicoff guitar contest 2012

Hi everyone!

Today I'll show the video of my second guitar contest, it was in 2012.
The request of the contest was about writing a solo on a Steve Vai's backing track.
I have to say thanks to my friend Fabio "Zedd" Cavallo for having filmed the whole thing.
So, here it is!

The gear consisted in:
"Jackson RR24" Guitar
"Ernie Ball Slinky 0.11-0.48" Strings
"Vox VT-100" Amplifier
"Line6 POD 2.0" Multi-effect processor for guitar.

Having some fun!

Hi there!

This afternoon I was jamming a bit on some backing tracks, and then I've found this one.
I really like it, so I've decided to record a short solo on it (BTW first recording of 2014, yay!), just in order to have some fun!

The track is in Em, a great occasion to use an Armonic Minor scale, which I personally love for its versatility!
Listen to this and let me know what do you think about it!

By the way, as you can see in the picture below, I've tried to experiment a bit to find a nice sound for my guitar, but in the end, I've just decided to put the microphone in front of the amplifier and connect the guitar through an eq pedal.
So, the gear I've used is:
"Jackson RR24" Guitar
"Ernie Ball Slinky 0.11-0.48" Strings
"Line6 Spider IV 30" Amplifier
"Boss GE-7" 7 bands EQ pedal
"Hardwire HT-6" Polyphonic Tuner
"Shure SM57" Microphone
"Steinberg CI 1" USB Audio Interface

Credits for the backing track go to gilneiroot, you can find the track here:

Let's start jammin'!

Ciao a tutti.
Stay Rock!!!

Hi everybody, I'm Disturbia Jk.
I started playing guitar 8 years ago and over the last two years I've been writing music with my guitar and my computer. In september I've published a track on iTunes and for a year I've been publishing tracks on Soundcloud.
At the moment I'm working with Fabio "Zedd"Cavallo, a very creative director who worked with J-Ax, Gemelli Diversi and Sisley. Now he's working on his own movie, titled "The secret of the lake".
I've written for him the opening theme of the "Collecchio Video Film Festival 2013", and I've written some music for other works with ElisaEly Photography, a local emergent photographer.
In this blog I would like to share with you my reviews of the instrumentation I already have and of the gear that I'm going to buy in the future. I'll be telling you about my favourite musicians and composers and I'd be very glad to know what do you think about my own works. Hope we can have some fun together! Stay Rock!
